About the Prize

“Teaching Shakespeare play a vital role in shappings student’s appreciation for the greatest writer in the English language.They ignite a passion for the timeless works of Shakespeare and an understanding of human nature.” Now the Parr Prize for Excellence in Teaching Shakespeare is committed to recognizing and honoring the exceptional efforts of educators who bring the magic of Shakespeare to life in High School Classrooms across the nation.
The prize aims to honor and support the dedicated individuals who inspire students through Shakespearean literature and drama.
“The Parr Prizes $10,000 for 3 or 4 exceptional teachers each year. They will also receive an expense paid trip to the Award Celebration weekend.”
“Teachers may be nominated be anyone that is familiar with their teaching” The teacher shall complete an application for consideration.

  • The Parr Prize awards $10,000 each to 3 exceptional teachers annually. They will also receive an expenses-paid trip to the Award Celebration weekend.

Nominations - Any time before July 30, 2025

Application Materials - Before August 24, 2025

Announcement of Winners by November 3, 2025

Award Celebration - January 17-19th, 2026

Our mission is to create a lasting award that recognizes and encourages exceptional teaching of Shakespeare in U.S. high schools.
